With Proportional Type digital controls the vehicle must be in motion for the control to have output. If the vehicle is sitting still with the vehicle's brake depressed or stopping very slowly the voltage displayed will be very low on the control. The is normal operation.

Control shows Short To Battery-No brakes Shows No Trailer Connected When Trailer Is Connected. No Auto function (No Braking With Brake Pedal, but OK with the manual lever) Shows Output Shorted-No Brakes Shows Open Ground-No Brakes Shows Power Loss-No Brakes. Does the P3 brake control have a switch to turn off or does it stay on all the time?

The P3 does not have a switch to turn the brake control off, but after approx. 15 min. of no activity (brake pedal or manual operation) the brake control does go into a power saving mode and the screen will be blank.

What angle does the P3 have to be mounted at?

The P3 must be mounted in the direction of travel and should be fairly level from side to side. Front to back the control can be mounted at any angle.
